DUNNET LANDING STORIES
April 24 - 26 — Pontine Theatre
In 1994, Pontine Theatre introduced its staging of THE COUNTRY OF THE POINTED FIRS to Seacoast audiences. Now Pontine's celebration of Sarah Orne Jewett's artistry continues with the stage premiere of her DUNNET LANDING SKETCHES, a series of stories featuring the beloved characters of Jewett's masterpiece. Mrs. Todd introduces the narrator to a new cast of characters and situations including Ester Hight (a Dunnet Sherpardess) who is the beloved of Mrs. Todd's shy brother, William; Mrs. Capt. Tolland (The Foreigner) who celebrates her "fete day" alone on her islated farm; and Abby Martin (The Queen's Twin) who believes her life is mysteriously linked to the life of Queen Victoria.
Pontine Theatre is well known for a large body of innovative original productions that celebrate the history and culture of New England, including last season's THE STORY OF A BAD BOY, based on the novel by Thomas Bailey Aldrich Memorial. Additional performances through May 10.
